Common faults and treatment methods of air energy water heater

In recent years, air energy water heater heating projects have been widely used in northern China. However, since heat pump heating has not been promoted in the north for a long time, engineers also lack sufficient technology and experience in such projects, so that when problems occur, many people will be helpless. In view of these problems, this paper briefly introduces several common faults and solutions of air energy water heaters


1. Cause analysis of current fault

A. First, test the actual current value of compressor idling for confirmation.

B. The current transformer and thermal relay are adjusted too small or have quality problems.

C. Too low or too high voltage causes excessive compressor current.


2. Exhaust probe failure cause

A. Too little refrigerant in the system will cause too high exhaust temperature.

B. Excessive refrigerant in the system will also cause excessive exhaust temperature.

C. The exhaust failure is caused by the quality problem of the exhaust probe itself.

D. The micro blockage of the heat pump throttling device causes high exhaust pressure and high exhaust temperature.


3. High voltage fault cause

A. If the heat pump has been repaired, check whether there is too much refrigerant, which cannot be displayed when the temperature is low in winter. In summer, it will cause high pressure and high pressure protection.

B. The head and flow of the circulating water pump are too small and are not equipped according to the company's requirements.

C. Whether the low water level probe of the water level probe is properly installed, and the probe should be higher than the circulating water inlet.

D. There is scale in the condenser (casing, high efficiency tank and plate heat exchanger for short), which causes poor heat exchange and high pressure in the system, generally due to the use of groundwater.

E. The poor detection of the tap water cut-off water pressure switch will also cause a high pressure alarm.


4. Unit does not operate

A. In case of power failure, disconnect the power switch and check the power supply.

B. The unit power wiring is loose, find out the cause and repair.

C. The fuse of unit control power supply is blown and replaced with a new one.


5. The water pump is running but the water does not circulate or the water pump is noisy

A. In case of water shortage in the water system, check the system water make-up device and replenish water to the system.

B. If there is air in the system, remove the air from the water system.

C. If the water system valves are not fully opened, fully open the water system valves.

D. The water filter is dirty and blocked. Clean the water filter.

6. Low heating capacity of the unit

A. If the refrigerant is insufficient, the system shall be leak checked and filled with refrigerant.

B. The thermal insulation of the water system is poor, and the thermal insulation of the water system is strengthened.

C. If the drying filter is blocked, replace it.

D. The air heat exchanger has poor heat dissipation. Clean the air heat exchanger.

E. If the water flow is insufficient, clean the water filter.


7. Compressor does not run

A. Power failure, find out the cause and solve the power failure.

B. The compressor contactor is damaged, replace the contactor.

C. If the wiring is loose, find out the loose point and repair it.

D. Overheating protection of compressor, find out the thermal cause and remove the fault before starting.

E. If the outlet water temperature is too high, reset the outlet water temperature.

F. If the water flow is insufficient, clean the water filter to remove the air in the system.


8. The compressor runs noisily

A. The liquid agent enters the compressor, and check whether the expansion valve is invalid.

B. If the internal parts of the compressor are damaged, replace the compressor.


9. Fan does not run

A. The fan set screw is loose, and tighten the set screw.

B. The fan motor is burnt out, replace the fan.

C. If the contactor is damaged, replace it.

10. The compressor runs, but the unit does not heat

A. If all refrigerants leak, the system shall be leak checked and filled with refrigerant.

B. The compressor is faulty. Replace the compressor.


11. Water flow protection

There are generally two possibilities for water flow protection. The water system is not circulating and the water switch itself is damaged. Generally, the water flow fault is often caused by water problems. Specific troubleshooting methods:


12. Exhaust pressure is too high

A. If there is too much refrigerant, discharge the excess refrigerant.

B. There is non condensable gas in the fluorine circuit system, and the non condensable gas is discharged.

C. If the water flow is insufficient, check the water system and increase the water flow.


13. Low suction pressure

A. If the drying filter is blocked, replace it.

B. If the solenoid valve is not opened, repair or replace the solenoid valve.

C. If the pressure drop through the heat exchanger is too large, check whether the opening of the thermal expansion valve is proper

D. The heat pump system has no refrigerant or leaks.


13. Remote controller failure/black screen

A. Black screen of wire controller: first confirm whether the unit is powered, and then try to replace it with a new wire controller. The refrigeration encyclopedia official account prompts that if it is still not lit, focus on checking whether the unit's main board has output. If there is no output, it may be that the main board transformer is damaged or the main board fuse is burned out. Replace one. Of course, this situation needs more observation later to eliminate the load short circuit and avoid secondary damage to accessories.

B. The wire controller reports a communication fault: report a communication fault and check whether the wiring is connected falsely. If not, it is usually a voltage problem. Focus on measuring whether the voltage is abnormal.

C. Insensitivity of the remote controller: if the remote controller is not sensitive just after use, it may be that the internal wiring may resist the keys. If the remote controller is not sensitive after a period of normal use, it may need to be replaced.


14. Air switch tripping

A. The air switch can not be closed: replace an air switch and ensure that the line is not falsely connected. If it is not possible, the compressor may be grounded or the main board may have a short circuit. After accurate judgment, the compressor or the main board needs to be replaced.

B. Occasional tripping of the air switch: it is often caused by the false connection of the air switch line, and it is only necessary to check whether the line is firmly connected. Of course, if the air is opened in a place with high humidity, it may be affected with damp and cause tripping.
